European Integration: Institutional, Cultural, and Economic Aspects

This course examines the similarities and differences in politics and models of social development among European countries. In particular, it focuses on political values, norms, characteristics of public consciousness, and its transformations, which are related to the activities of institutions that mediate the relationship between the state and society, especially political parties and civil society organizations.

European Society and Politics

This course examines the similarities and differences in politics and models of social development among European countries. It focuses in particular on political values, norms, features of public consciousness, and its transformations, which are linked to the activities of institutions that mediate the relationship between the state and society, especially political parties and civil society organizations.

Public Policies in the European Union

Students are invited to study the development and content of EU public policies in comparison with the corresponding policies of European Union member states; the main scholarly approaches to their analysis; and the relevant institutional characteristics involved in the formulation of these policies.

The European Union: Global and Regional Dimensions

The course introduces participants to the origins, nature, and content of European foreign policy, its main conceptual and methodological issues, as well as the European Union’s relations with key partners and approaches to addressing international issues.

Professional Competencies

Awareness of the nature and significance of politics as a specific type of human activity and a distinct field of knowledge, including the development of ideas about politics and its contemporary interpretations.
Critical understanding of the problems and principles of functioning and patterns of development of power and public policy, political institutions, and processes at the local, national, and regional levels (politics, policy, polity) in Europe.
Ability to analyze power and governance, political systems, institutions and regimes, and political processes comprehensively.
Competence in applying normative and empirical political theory, political research methodology, and applied political analysis to political processes in Europe.
Ability to use a wide range of concepts and methods for the interpretation and analysis of politics at various levels in Europe.
Capacity to perform political-organizational, expert-analytical, and advisory functions effectively at the national and European levels.
Ability to participate productively in scholarly collaboration both nationally and at the European level.
