European Dictionary of Philosophies

The Ukrainian version of the unique international project European Vocabulary of Philosophies, conducted under the supervision of Barbara Cassin, is the first attempt in the history of philosophy to compile untranslatables, that is, philosophical words and expressions whose translation from one language into another presents specific challenges.

The aim of this project is to deepen the dialogue among various European philosophical traditions by examining the philosophical untranslatables of European philosophical languages. The original French edition, Vocabulaire européen des philosophies. Dictionnaire des intraduisibles, was published in Paris in 2004, with a second edition appearing in 2019. It was created by specialists from different countries across Europe, America, Africa, and Asia.
